Retirement planners say that you must have ten or more times your current annual expenses saved up.
They say “expenses”, not income, because most people have become accustomed to spending more than they make. Many people are comfortable paying out $300.00 to $500.00 a month to credit cards, and these debts are part of the necessary budget.
Ideally, you want to pay those debts off before you retire.

Professional Dress Code Attire – Keeping Up
In business, we are pressured to spend more than we should. The professional image is important, and many will emulate the way the boss dresses, feel pressed to buy a new car, or sport expensive accessories – all to stand out from the crowd.
I can recall my first job review, way back when I was twenty one years old. There were no complaints about my professional work. The main complaint from my employer was about my clothes.
I was shocked! I dressed neatly and appropriately on the job. The special clothing I wore while working, was not provided by the company, and was not tax deductible.
The only way I could up my game was to stop saving and use credit. This was just at the time that incomes stopped rising for almost everyone. And I mean, stopped rising through to the present.
We went from an income economy to a debt economy.
Millions who worked within better financial climates “lost it all” anyway in the “Too Big To Fail” fiascos.
Here we all are, with retirement money needed!
Working After Full Retirement Age
Our cultures thrive on consumerism, driven by advertising. The right clothes, the right cars, the glamor schools, and the inevitable debts.
If you are over 50, and still in your best job, and still advancing in it, I hope you can save now. Yet unlike a twenty-five year old who can start putting $100.00 a month into a Roth IRA for the next forty years (ending up with about a million dollars, theoretically), you have fifteen years to save 1.5 million. Run!
How many of us thought we would end up working after retirement age? After many conversations and much search I can conclude that most folks want to – drumroll!…
…Work At Home After Retirement
Indeed, if you must work, wouldn’t you prefer to:
Avoid going to a job
Save on gas and time and car wear
Work during the hours you select each and every day
Spend more time with your spouse/friends/pets/no one
Visit your grandkids – whenever!
Enjoy the home you’ve invested so much in
Earn some extra retirement income even while taking a trip you’ve always wanted?
I repeat, work from home?
“Work from home” has become such a bad word! A cringe worthy phrase! They are all scams right?
Unless maybe you can learn to blog (meaning a write on a small and somewhat personal web
site) and share your experience from previous jobs, or hobbies?
And if you could do that blog writing on a couple offree giveaway web sites? As in, a real site that will appear on the world wide web and convey your valuable thoughts and feelings about something? And, make you money?
I would like to help you find a way to enjoy your retirement, your home, your time, and your loved ones. If you need more money in retirement, I can show you where to get training for a work at home job.
In my recent post “Retirement Income – US”I mentioned a talk show host, not a stupid guy by any means, who modeled “a good life” on a family of four, with two parents each bringing home about $45,000.00 a year. That made me gasp! That would not make a good life for four people in my state. Nor would those parents be saving anything to retire on.
Yet, this is the “typical” scenario.
I truly feel that The Wealthy Affiliate training and support web site can help you if retirement money is needed. This instructional community, will show you how to learn to benefit from your life experience and knowledge.
So many people ask me “where can I build a website for free“. “Wealthy Affiliate“ I say.
That is the name of a unique membership training community for people who want to excel at internet marketing.
I understand that is probably the interest that brought you here, am I right?
What’s most important to recognize about Wealthy Affiliate is that you can learn to set up a blog the right way.
Would You Like To Learn How To Build A Blog From Scratch?
Is Wealthy Affiliate for anyone?
It is for people who have established businesses on line, and who want to increase their financial returns and maybe even retire from their day job, to work from home.
It is also for people who know absolutely nothing about how to profit with a blog, and who have noticed that people are doing this, and writing about it.
Essentially, if you want to make some income on line you must first know how to build a blog (a web site) properly.
And that is the essence of the Wealthy Affiliate instruction.
This virtual village has 180,000 plus members, and new ones appear every day. The join up price is – free!
The owners are Kyle and Carson two of the best trainers in the work-from-home business arena, active since 2005.
You can read about Kyle’s take on 2017 on line training for the web here and about Carson’s recent blog about updated 4 step website building here.
What Is An Affiliate?
The affiliate is the person who connects with vendors and service providers on line. Affiliate marketing is one of several systems of commerce on the world wide web where you, the site owner, promote products for another business and earn a commission on the sales you generate.
There are many businesses which use affiliates and to name a few:
Clickbank (a digital product vendor site covering every topic under the sun)
What Are The Advantages
No ordering products which requires money upfront
No stocking or direct selling of products which requires space at home
No complications such as getting a vendor’s permit, and filing quarterly income tax returns
Deductions from taxable income of your operating expenses (everything your tax code allows)
Complete independence as to where and when you work
How Do You Get Into Affiliate Marketing
I honestly don’t remember how I originally came across the idea of how to profit with a blog. I was a struggling single mom then, and when it dawned on me that I could write (which I already loved to do!) on a website, talk about someone else’s product that I respected, and then get a commission from a purchase – I was stoked!
Could this be the answer to my prayers? The long sought relief from counting dollars every week?
Over a span of almost ten years, I had tried out many training packages about how to make money on line.
Some were good and many were useless and I never achieved the financial freedom I sought.
And I didn’t know what was holding me back.
Although, for a couple of years in there, I did profit about $3000.00 USD promoting a Clickbank product. In fact, that product gave me a $25 commission on each sale. Till it didn’t.
I’d love to help you avoid losing time like I did…The volumes I wrote for shared-revenue web sites (sites that sell ads and share the income with writers) didn’t retain any value when the site owners failed, or decided to move on and do something else.
When they did change their commission structure, or just bail, I scrambled to replace that income!
This supportive community offers a long term investment!
You will get on line training and build effective blogs that will support a business.
Businesses that will grow toward helping you:
Retire – yes it is a dream with realization in sight!
Earn extra income while in college or professional training

Just yesterday a friend witnessed a personal story of elder abuse and FBI fraud. The perpetrators were pretending to be the FBI. I wonder how many other recent fraud stories there are that we won’t here about.
Fraud Scams, Stories Abound – Take Notice!
If you think the FBI is not busy, take a look at this page showing successful investigations that resulted in convictions so far in 2019. Astounding, and with millions of dollars in fines for those in prison.
The scope of these scams are truly startling. We don’t hear about them on the evening news. They include:
Internet donor fraud
Health care fraud
Government contract in Afghanistan fraud
Counterfeit money operation
I could go on, and the first page on that link above is one hundred out of over nine thousand, as of today. You could read the stories for a month!.
In Her Backyard
Gail Bernstein, my generous friend I’m staying with while my broken leg heals, employs a handy man, a skilled senior who lives in his trailer and boon docks around town. He lives well enough, judging from the clean motor home and Dodge Ram that pulls it.
We don’t know his full story, but he’s not down and out and he himself looks well kept.
Yesterday when Gail went out back to check on his day of work in a backyard artisan shed, he was shaking like a leaf.
He had just received a phone call, allegedly from the FBI. They were on their way to pick him up.
The person calling him stated that he was a victim of identity theft. It involved his ex, and also involved theft and a murder.
He claimed that the FBI had frozen his bank accounts, and his Social Security benefits.
Most people would be shocked by this information. This senior was rattled and Gail and I were astounded.
“The FBI has opened 66 economic crime investigations related to elder fraud since March 1, 2018″…” Its data shows confidence fraud and romance scams aimed at the elderly accounted for more than $184 million in losses over the past year.” – Results of Elder Fraud Sweep Announced
This man’s life could have fallen apart quickly if he was detained for a couple of weeks, or even days. A boon docker, his home and vehicle would have been impounded, building up about an eighty dollar a day bill. Plus he would not be getting his mail concerning its whereabouts in a timely fashion.
Yes, he could lose everything, fast.
We don’t really know this person, but we felt for him.
The situation seemed drastic. Law enforcement certainly would need to establish that he wasn’t a willing participant in the fraud. It would need to verify his ID details and whereabouts during the criminal activities.
And we could do nothing to help. Gail could only wait to see if he showed up for the next day, or not.
It Is A Scam
The following day he showed up. He told Gail that he had called his son who lives in another state, and he looked up the situation and verified it is a scam.
This man is linked to the web by his phone but does not have a handy way of getting online with a computer.
(I know from using the library in a large city, how many seniors and disabled folks practically live there all day, to use the computers.
You can see from the cars parked outside that some of them live in their vehicles. What a sad situation in this wealthy country.)
Just imagine if these scammers had stayed on him and demanded that he text his SS number, birth date, et al, to their office. And then he did.
Fortunately that didn’t happen. I wonder how many terrified seniors did!
Have any of them had heart attacks or strokes over this? Have they lost their life savings?
Scammed People Are Not Stupid
Senior generations were raised to respect authority and trust people in official positions. That makes them easy prey for scammers. It is almost incomprehensible the degree of depravity that goes on these days, facilitated by data mining by “respectable” businesses.
“The number of defendants, victims, and alleged financial losses exceeded last year’s figures, when the Department of Justice announced charges against more than 250 subjects and losses of more than $600 million.” – from the linked Elder Abuse article above.
Six hundred million!
When I wrote my article “Reverse Mortgage Risks” I wanted to warn seniors about the possibility of losing their homes, or signing up for an expensive and unfair loan. And, there are reverse mortgage scams.
I had no idea of the frauds going on.
My article Senior Poverty Statistics discusses the numbers and recommends the best place for a person to learn how to write a blog for money, just like this one you’re reading.
You can learn the basics of small home business blogging, the right way, and engage with a million plus member community. Many of them are seniors who want to make some extra income from home.
I recommend it because I know it is not a scam. People can take a week to view basic site building lessons, and create two sites for free. Those sites will remain on line and belong to you, the creator, even if you do not join the training community.
You will not be asked for a payment method, or any other personal information other than your name and email address.
That’s pretty easy, isn’t it?
Thinking more about Gail’s employee, who is strong and can still work, that isn’t every senior. How long will he be able to earn money? What if he didn’t have family?
Social security or disability benefits can pay for groceries, gas, and sundries. It will not pay for a roof over one’s head. The homeless numbers in this country prove that, and many are seniors.
That’s why I recommend Wealthy Affiliate online training for internet marketing.
The value of bone broth has been recognized throughout recorded history in every culture I’ve been able to read about. Bone marrow broth benefits include the release of collagen, to restore soft tissues in the body after accidents or other injury.
Bone Broth Recipe For A Slow Cooker
I am specifically referring here, to an electric slow cooker, or crock pot, that you can leave cooking while you’re out of the home.
Bone broth can be slow cooked on the stove. I tend to write for working people, whether senior or not, and I certainly don’t recommend you leaving the stove on when you’re not home.
Here is a video telling you how to use your slow cooker for making bone broth.
The Naturopath physician explains that the broth benefits include:
Stimulating your immune system
Provides concentrated protein
Detoxes the body/is a cleansing food without fasting
And in the spirit of this blog, which is about Affiliate Marketing, here are crock pots to view, presented as you will when you embark on your own marketing online journey.
Those products are linked to Amazon. If a reader here clicks on the images, and buys one, I will get a commissionfrom Amazon for the referral.
I will tell you, for your blog, to instruct the reader to “CLICK HERE” or “CLICK ON THE IMAGE” to see the details, or learn more.
Blogging For Money And Health Benefits
This blog’s purpose is to show you where to go for the best training available on the web to learn site building for business.
To teach you how to blog for:
Extra income/full time income
A better life/health benefits
Independence for any age person, and especially in your over 60 years
Extra income if you live on disability benefits/cannot leave your home to work
Self expression, sharing information, and wouldn’t mind your site paying for itself
For example, I’ve wriiten an article focused on health – “Health Benefits Of Working At Home“. You can click on that title and you’ll end up on a new page, and this one will stay open.
“You can get more collagen by eating wild-caught salmon, as well as eggs and avocados. But bone broth is where you’ll get the biggest collagen bang for your buck.” – Dr. Al Sears
Collagen not only enhances your skin and connective tissues, but it supports a body part called the “extracellular matrix” (ECM) which controls the communication between your immune system and your nervous system.
“In biology, the extracellular matrix (ECM) is a three-dimensional network of extracellular macromolecules, such as collagen, enzymes, and glycoproteins, that provide structural and biochemical support of surrounding cells. Because multicellularity evolved independently in different multicellular lineages, the composition of ECM varies between multicellular structures; however, cell adhesion, cell-to-cell communication and differentiation are commonfunctions of the ECM”
The ECM is made of proteins such as collagen and elastin. Its health can be damaged by chronic pain. The ECM tissue in the brain can become compromised. This is a little complicated and involves the memory of pain.
Yet this damage can be reversed.
If you can consume more collagen the repair of the ECM will also result in a reduction of pain. Collagen doesn’t just support soft tissues, but builds bone matrix too.
There Is More To Bone Broth
“Chinese research on bone broth revealed that the calcium present in the bones is useful in controlling pain and inflammation, cramps, muscle spasms, delusions, depression, insomnia, irritability, hyperactivity, anxiety, palpitations, hypertension, high cholesterol, allergies, brittle nails, periodontal and dental disease, pica, rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis and any situation that creates bone loss such as aging, immobilisation, postmenopause, and caffeine.”
Many people with leaky gut problems are encouraged to make bone broth, as it has a healing affect on the gut lining. It also prevents parasites from clinging to the gut, and they can be excreted.
Cow hooves can be purchased stripped and cleaned. In fact, the hooves are removed, and the cut is from the heel to the knee. Some recommend that they soak them for forty-eight hours, with the water being changed frequently.
Simmering over ten hours, up to forty-eight hours (per the video above) is reccommeded. Condiments and spices can be added in the final stages.
Armenians have their own recipe and use this health-laden broth for a social ceremony. Blogger Hairenik has written a colorful account of that HERE.
Is Bone Broth Anti-Inflammatory?
Bone marrow broth is a traditional, used for centuries, anti-inflammatory remedy. It can affect any suffering tissue in the body. It can be added to your physician recommended treatments for:
Sprains, strains, breaks and impacts
Joint and muscle pain/arthritis
Leaky gut and other related gastrointestinal discomforts, including food allergies
I will be making pots of the broth and freezing in two pint tubs. Wouldn’t this be handy to have in the freezer for when you feel a cold coming on? Or a flu or cough?
This is so easy to give to children when they start complaining about feeling sick or feverish.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they served this in senior homes and rehabilitation centers instead of that boxed frozen food?
Shouldn’t your orthopedic doc be handing out the recipe with your other discharge papers? Or your internist? Seriously!
Have you tried making bone broth? Do you remember your parents or grandparents making it? I am curious, so please do share in the comment box below.
I recommend fresh made foods to be consumed whenever possible. But right now I do have a broken bone and am staying at a friend’s, to avoid stairs. And I just found this, grass fed sourced beef collagen. It will do for now.
Hello again readers, and thanks for visiting again today. While this is a home blogging business focused site, I recently have had my thoughts pinned on some personal safety tips seniors need to pre-emptively think about.
What Brought That On?
I fell on icy stairs and broke a bone. It’s winter here, and the driveway, sidewalks and stairs should have been rapidly attended to. Anyone who lives in a winter clime knows that temperature fluctuations cause slush to freeze, and then become hidden under new snow.
I knew that! I thought of staying at home for a couple of hours to see if the snow would stop, if the sun would come out, and if the snow would start melting.
But, I take care of a more senior person, and I decided to tackle the day. I was very careful descending the stairs, and luckily I was hanging onto the railing when my foot shot out from under me.
Has something like that ever happened to you? You don’t have to be a senior for that to happen. For anyone, it’s a life change in a nano second.
And hopefully not too drastic.
Now That You’re Older Put Yourself First
Most of us are brought up to be considerate of others and help as needed, right? As a society we depend on each other to survive and thrive. Whether it’s family or friends, don’t we like to think we make ourselves available to people in need?
We take care of our spouses children, and eventually parents, and help with other people’s families too. Who doesn’t need a community and a network of safety nets?
I am not frail or lacking in surefooted steps, or balance. But accidents circumvent all that, don’t they?
My elderly would not have minded a bit if I had called and cancelled that day. Silly me.
Or, socially programmed me? And maybe you too?
We don’t want to feel we let someone down.
We want to be loyal to our values.
From a strict upbringing, we don’t want to be seen betraying our traditional dictates.
Altruists will just do the helpful thing without thinking it over.
Can you relate to those ideas?
I can’t claim to be altruistic but I do feel for someone who is worse off than I am. paralyzed on one side.
That’s what prompted me to forge ahead in the less than optimal conditions.
Don’t do that!
My Full Time Blog Business – I’m Getting There!
Wouldn’t you love to make a comfortable income working on your computer? I am slowly getting there, and I certainly won’t give up!

After years of patching together numerous course on different aspects of this earning method called affiliate marketing, I discovered Wealthy Affiliate. It is an online training community where all the requirements of writing a good blog are assembled in order, with do-it-as-you-go classes.
Here are some relevant articles that will explain more.
I didn’t figure out till five days later that I never even saw a medical doctor at the Adventist Health ER, the only one in town. I saw an FNP according to my discharge papers. What is that? I suppose the fact that I didn’t know means I have been lucky enough not to end up there earlier, and am inexperienced.
A moment of gratitude for that! At this web page, I learned the following.
“Education: The FNP typically has a BSN (Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing) and an MSN (Masters of Science in Nursing). The Master’s program typically takes 1-2 years, therefore the total schooling post high school is 5-6 years.
take health histories and provide examinations
diagnose and treat common illnesses and conditions
order appropriate diagnostic tests
interpret x-rays and lab results
prescribe and manage medications and other therapies
provide health teaching and counseling
refer patients to specialists as needed”
This explains my puzzlement as to why I could not get a cast or boot before discharge. I thought I was talking to a medical doctor and I thought he was being a weenie and just not making a decision. I knew this would lead to one or two follow up appointments and I wanted to keep it simple!
I worried about when I would get back to work. I bet you would have been too, right? How many weeks/months would I be on crutches?. If you have used crutches you know what a workout that is!
If you’ve never used crutches, here are two things you’ll be told:
Put your weight on your hands, not your armpits
Place your good foot between the crutches, not ahead of them.
Once I got home I quickly learned:
Push all the area rugs out of the way because they may slide
Wear something with pockets – you have no hands!
Use a bag or backpack to push water, food, and refreshed ice pack from the kitchen to your comfy place
If someone is there with you, let them do it all – it’s a hassle!
If someone is coming over to help, make a list so you don’t forget that one thing
Really important – posture – when you put your good foot down make a postural plumb line
So what is that? I am a retired ballet dancer/teacher. When my sciatic nerve and hip muscle started flaming up, I knew I was doing something wrong. Here is a brief video showing you good posture. You don’t have to watch it all, the first minute explains it.
If you get straight after every step, relax your shoulders and take a deep breath, you will benefit greatly.
You will still be sore from the initial few days of unexpected exertion, but you’ll be all right, in most cases.
Conclusion – The Best Work Is At Home
I hope you don’t slip and fall, ever. I am making extra income working at home, and my goal is a comfortable (or more!) monthly revenue. I will then never feel obliged to leave the house in bad and potentially dangerous conditions.
I recommend you do a little thinking about personal safety tips seniors need to consider. Know what your boundaries (that you deserve!) might be in difficult situations.
If you’d like to learn with a no-cost experiment in building a blog,
Would you like to know how to build an online home business?
The focus of this website is to inform seniors and the disabled how to get honest training with the intention of earning an income while working at home.
Yet, I’m not excluding anyone. But my personal quest to is to help those who have to work from home, or those who want more money in retirement…meaning, they would like to actually retire!
You can learn to work on the internet with more details HERE.
There are job search sites which cover employment opportunities that can be done from your residence, or from anywhere if you have a phone or internet connection.
This article is concerned with self-employment income via the internet as an affiliate marketer. This is a business model you can learn a lot about for free. What this is not about:
Any distributorship or selling where you have to buy and store products, then ship
Any organization where you have to buy/spend a minimum per month to retail your commission level
Any rally-driven meeting loaded business where you are rarely at home
A business style that requires a charismatic personality or extreme selling talent
By the way, I’m not dissing the charisma or selling ability (ice to Eskimos level) at all. But that personality type is not looking for a work at home business lol.
Online Home Business Costs
You truly do need an attractive, easy to find website to show products and publish reviews about them. There are successful people who use blogger.com, free, but it’s not really set up for selling. It is a great platform to journal on, and blogger does allow marketing providing you are publishing useful and original content as opposed to just putting up links to retailers in the hopes of earning commissions.
WordPress is “a free and open-source content management system (CMS)” – Wikipedia . They have many free themes, designed to appear and function in a specific way depending on what your blog is about. You will pay for:
Premium themes which give you enhanced functionality, best that you know code

Hardware expenses (computers, power strips, surge protectors etc., etc.)
A good work station set up whether it’s fancy or just a good lumbar cushion on your kitchen chair
